November 6th, 1983: Will Disappears From Hawkins, Indiana

Stranger Things: Will's Timeline, Explained (1)

David Harbour shared that he assumed that Stranger Things would be canceled after season 1. Thankfully, that didn't happen, as season 1 sets up a fascinating story that only gets better as the seasons progress. In the first episode "Chapter One: The Vanishing of Will Byers," Will is riding his bike home on November 6th, 1983 when he disappears. At first, it seems like he is nowhere. But Stranger Things doles out the explanation in a slow, careful, and fascinating manner.

It turns out that Will has traveled to an alternate dimension called the Upside Down, which is stuck in 1983. He sees many monsters here, including The Mind Flayer, who he is often connected to even when he is back in Hawkins. November 6th, 1983 is an important and powerful date as this is when Will and his friends and family become terrified of the place they call home.

November 1983: Joyce And Will Talk Via Christmas Lights

Stranger Things: Will's Timeline, Explained (2)

One of the most famous and memorable season 1 Stranger Things scenes is when Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) realizes that she can talk to Will through the Christmas lights on the wall of their house. But she also worries that she won't figure out a way to bring him back home.

Joyce's best Stranger Things quotes show what a loyal friend and compassionate mother she is. She's incredibly relatable as she knows that she isn't perfect and that she has made mistakes.
