Many schools celebrated Earth Week in April with educational activities. This year’s theme was "Planet vs. Plastics." Students at Franklin Elementary learned the importance of taking care of our planet. One way was to plant trees in this fun, hands-on project at their school.Visit the LWSD Facebook page to see how LWSD celebrated this important day.

Additions at Redmond High School and Eastlake High School
In a previous edition of "Connections," we shared that the LWSD Board of Directors has approved the redirecting of levy funds to build additions and modify core spaces at both Eastlake High School and Redmond High School. The capital projects team is in the middle of procurement of a general contractor/construction manager (GCCM) for the high school capacity - eastside projects to keep these projects moving forward.

Kirkland Middle School addition
Capital projects staff visited the manufacturer's warehouse, Blazer Industries, a few weeks ago to see the addition structure in pieces, or "modules" at this off-site location. They will now disassemble the modular buildings, wrap them, transport and assemble them on the Kirkland Middle School site in June. This eight-classroom addition is scheduled to open in Fall 2024.
